A comprehensive interactive module that teaches SMP students the computational thinking skill of abstraction. It explains the two core skills - identifying important information and ignoring unnecessary details - through real-life examples like subway maps, phone contacts, weather icons, and app buttons. Students explore how abstraction changes depending on purpose, practise sorting essential vs unnecessary details in two hands-on activities (a student ID card and a game character stat card), compare a realistic map with an abstracted subway map, learn how abstraction applies to technology and programming, and review key vocabulary through a matching game before a final 7-question quiz.
